Job Description:

Our client is looking to hire a full time permanent Mobile Mechanical Engineer. The position is within in the Sutton, Surrey area.

The company has been running since 2003 providing Technical M&E service support to the Commercial Building Maintenance sector. We run a small team of highly skilled mobile engineers covering London, Greater London and South of England.

The role is to provide a variety of general maintenance and reactive services and corrective works on buildings, plant and site

Skills and experience:

Essential that you have experience working within plant rooms and have excellent communication skills. Full current driving licence with no more than 3 points.

The successful candidate should ideally possess the following:

  • A sound knowledge of mechanical engineering and the ability to carry out planned and un-planned safety inspection and maintenance work on mechanical plant and associated equipment in accordance with FSG20 and the like.
  • To have completed a recognised apprenticeship or hold a recognised qualification e.g. City & Guild, BTEC, NVQ level 3 in a mechanical engineering discipline as a minimum qualification.
  • Experience of selecting and installing a wide range of pipework types and systems.
  • The ability to read and understand schematic drawings in order to carry out effective fault finding and diagnostics.
  • Experience of working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Electrical principals appropriate to actuation of mechanical systems and plant.
  • Experience of working with pumps (DOL and inverter driven) and capable of undertaking fault finding / repairs when necessary.
  • Experience of Health & Safety procedures relevant to engineering activities and the safe handling of heavy equipment.
  • Willing and able to work in a varied, multi-skilled role, assisting other trades as and when required.
  • Experience of PPM systems of work.
  • Produce details of time and materials required for any minor works for quoting purposes.
  • Ability to provide job updates and reports in a timely fashion, including all necessary technical detail needed to enable correct remedial works when required.

Job Description:

Design Estimator required, for a busy Fire and Security company to plan, implement and deliver tenders.

Duties to include:

  • Review all Tender Documents for potential risk and exposure and provide key information across the contract team.
  • If required, carry out surveys and report findings back to the Head of Estimating.
  • Review tender specifications, programmes and pricing schedules for quotation purposes and ensure compliance.
  • File all tender information in correct folder locations, e.g., specification, programme, and drawings.
  • Identifying value engineering solutions to create a commercial advantage over competitors.
  • Liaise with suppliers for costs of equipment and parts, ensuring compliance with the tender documents.
  • Preparing RFIs detailing tender qualifications and particulars.
  • To work with and maintain the existing company estimating department procedures.
  • Preparation of all documents to meet the company standards to include design sign off.
  • Submitting tenders for a review to the Head of Estimating, including the project handover signed document. Information to be submitted with ample time to meet customers deadlines.
  • After tender submission, ensure all tenders are chased and your manager is kept informed of the bid prospects.
  • Maintain the Quote Bank.
  • Supervise, mentor, and encourage other team members. Treating them in a professional manner.
  • All your office and site activities will be client facing and as a result you are our representative to the client. At all times you will be expected to maintain a professional appearance and manner, be punctual, helpful, and courteous to clients and colleagues.
  • Attend all weekly Estimating Meetings.

Our client is looking for an additional experienced Fire and Security Project Manager to support the growth of the business and is Ideally based close to London.

The job description is as follows:

MUST HAVE FIRE & SECURITY INSTALL PROJECT MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE.

  • Primarily based on site locations in and around London.
  • Must be comfortable commuting into London on a daily basis.
  • We are generally a projects based business and our PM’s are either on one project or a number of smaller projects.
  • We work for Main Contractors and Electrical Contractors.

  • Projects values usually range from £500K to £5mil.
  • Aprox c£1m of works is allocated to our PM’s (this is a rolling value spread across workload).

  • Good written & communication skills & comfortable in customer-facing environments.

Main Role:

Supplier and Contract Management:

  • Assist the contract's managers in the selection of key suppliers and sources.

  • Benchmarking of all products within the given area to ensure best total acquisition cost is achieved.

  • Ensure quality and performance of materials fall in line with acceptable standards.
  • Consolidate purchases of materials to achieve maximum economic benefit.
  • Study and analyse markets to make recommendations of possible specification changes which would represent savings without detracting from quality requirements.

Procurement and Stock Management:

  • Secure the best deals for each project.
  • Continually monitor suppliers’ performance for measuring delivery and quality.
  • Verify and cross-check items ordered against items delivered and invoiced.
  • Ensure materials are procured in-line with the delivery programme.
  • Ensure materials procured are to the clients specifications.
  • Identify and "take off" where necessary materials.
  • Send out enquiries for appropriate materials, collate and analyze quotations.
  • Place orders with suitable suppliers for specified materials.
  • In conjunction with the delivery team, progress the delivery of supplies in order to comply with the site building programme. Control stock and utilise during project delivery.

Financial and Operational Adjustments:

  • Negotiate returns on items not required or over ordered.
  • Advise contracts team costs for budgetary purposes.
  • Resolve any discrepancies that may arise between orders, goods received and invoices. Also make a decision on this account and authorize payments.
  • Establish, monitor, and ensure payment of negotiated rebate/discounts agreements as allocated.
  • Attend site during finishing phases of projects to catalogue redundant materials and negotiate returns.
  • Communication and Reporting:
  • Inform other departments of all relevant information regarding changes in materials, major price movements, delivery lead times and individual supply situations.
  • Attend Meetings at key stages in order to review general progress on site and to decide on any future action necessary.

Miscellaneous Duties:

  • Ad-hoc duties as specified by the accounts and contracting team.

Qualification / Cards:

  • GCSE Grade C or above in Maths and English
  • Qualification to CIPS or working towards
