Mechanical Operations Manager

We are now looking for a Mechanical Operations Manager based in Belfast.

The role 

  • To assist in managing this dynamic department, performing as the Mechanical Operations Manager.
  • Be commercially focused and have a reputation for achieving high customer satisfaction.
  • Lead the delivery of mechanical contracts within this department 
  • Provide strong technical knowledge to ensure contracts are delivered in compliance with the Employer's Requirements, specifications and drawings, as well as to the highest possible standards.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

As an Operations Manager within the Maintenance Division, you will be expected to promote best practice. The main duties and responsibilities include:

  • I oversee all live mechanical projects ongoing within the business, ensuring they are delivered in accordance with agreed standards, specifications, and drawings while maximising profitability. 
  • Regularly visit live sites to interact positively with our site and client teams.
  • Monitor and mentor the Contracts Managers and Supervisors
  • Provide training and monitor training plans for all managers and supervisors 
  • Assist contract managers with the preparation of contract reviews.
  • Chair monthly contract review meetings
  • Assist contracts managers, pre-construction manager, and store team with project procurement.
  • Identify and implement more efficient ways of carrying out company processes.
  • When required, actively advertise, identify and recruit new personnel
  • Ensure project accounts (valuations, variations, payments, final accounts, etc.) are kept current.
  • Assess and sign off sub-contractor monthly valuations/payment notices
  • Work closely with the QS department to monitor cash flow and sales forecasts and accurately project profit and loss forecasts.
  • Identify new supply chain partners, including labour-only sub-contractors, specialised contractors and general suppliers.
  • Build existing client relationships and try to identify and secure new clients. 
  • Take a keen interest in the other division of the business.
  • Actively promote Irwin M & E within the industry.

Criteria

Essential

  • Time-served Plumber/Heating Engineer with commercial and industrial experience and a Building Services Engineering Degree.

  • Commercially aware of costs and trends in the marketplace.

We are looking for an Air Conditioning Engineer to join a well-established company.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone to join a well-established company helping to deliver Planned Preventative maintenance, Servicing and Installation projects, working in various sectors including Education, Healthcare, Commercial, Defence and Research, servicing clients’ requirements throughout the Eastern Region and neighbouring counties.

The successful candidate will report directly to the Air Conditioning Manager. They will liaise directly with our clients and must ensure they always represent the business in a proud and professional manner.

The successful candidate will ideally have at least 3 years’ experience after completing the apprenticeship, including modifying, fault finding, and installing different types of Air Conditioning systems in both commercial and industrial environments.

Contracted work hours are Monday to Friday, 07:30 to 15:30 hrs, with occasional weekend working and overtime as required by the company. There may also be a requirement to work away on occasion.

Terms and Conditions, including Wage Rates and annual leave, will align with the BESA National Agreement.

A fully expensed Company Vehicle will also be provided for work use. You must be able to work individually, as part of a team, and without supervision on occasions, using your own initiative and demonstrating a good knowledge and understanding of the H&S requirements. Paperwork must be produced correctly and on time.

Overview 

Established in 1993, our client provides a full range of Mechanical & Electrical services for properties in London and the Home Counties. To summarise, we look after the building’s communal plant rooms (boilers, etc.) that serve the apartments or offices and sometimes the air conditioning plant and other services. 

We look after over 130 contract properties and undertake planned preventative maintenance and remedial works utilizing their commercial gas, auxiliary, and electrical engineers and a combination of over 20 specialist subcontractors covering Building Management Systems (BMS), Combined Heat and power (CHP) boilers, air conditioning, water treatment, hygiene, etc.

Following substantial growth across the business, we are now seeking a qualified and experienced Commercial Gas Engineer. The role will cover routine servicing on our contract sites, remedial and repairs, and installation.  This mobile position will require daily travel within London and the Home Counties (vehicle to be provided).  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the installation of commercial gas boilers, cylinder replacements and mechanical equipment on a range of Commercial sites 
  • Testing and commissioning a variety of heating systems
  • Repair and diagnose faulty boilers.  
  • Repairing or replacing other plants i.e. pumps, pipework, tanks, actuators, and valves 
  • Working with the internal job management system for planning of works required 
  • Carrying out PPM and reactive maintenance across our portfolio of clients  
  • Servicing and replacing parts as required. 
  • Accurate completion of all paperwork in connection with company policies, procedures, and legislation 
  • Representing the company to the exceptionally high standard and reputation they have built.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience: 

The ideal candidate will be looking to invest in their professional development and the company.  You must be confident, professional and presentable in representing the company, and the following requirements are essential:

  • Valid Commercial Gas Qualifications (Non-Domestic Air Heating Equipment, Overhead Plaque &Tube Converters, Direct Fired Appliances, Gas Installation Pipework, First Fix Commercial Pipework, Pipework Testing and Purging, Non-Domestic Testing and Purging up to and over 1m3, Non-Domestic Hot Water Boilers, Indirect Fired Heating Appliances)  
  • Understand pipework schematic drawings and follow to install as per drawings when available.
  • Ability to work independently with good problem-solving skills. 
  • Must be familiar with and able to install/commission a variety of manufacturers’ boilers. 
  • A full UK driving license is required. 
  • Excellent communication skills 
  • Proven experience in a similar mobile commercial gas/heating engineering role 

Salary and Package Details:

  • Salary according to experience 
  • Paid overtime rate @ 1.5 x 
  • £150/week standby rate when on call.
  • Minimum 3 hr. callout cost to out-of-hours calls.

POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for the daily setup and operation of hydraulic CNC-controlled press brakes in a just-in-time fabrication shop with some assistance provided. He/she may be required to assist other operators as a helper on key work or machines as required. This is a cross-functional position within the Fabrication department. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  1. Set up and operate a hydraulic press or punch for routine established work. 
  2. Select the correct tooling for the job task with setup documents or supervisor/lead assistance. 
  3. Load, install and correctly set up the tools required with some assistance from supervisor/lead. 
  4. Perform assigned work to time standards and quality expectations. 
  5. Safely operate a forklift to handle materials and completed work. 
  6. Make routine decisions and use problem-solving to resolve basic manufacturing issues or seek assistance. 
  7. Report and document basic material, production, and quality control issues. 
  8. Maintain performance logbooks on assigned area equipment and report deficiencies to the maintenance team. 
  9. Participate in equipment preventative maintenance at the operator level. 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Must have strong metal press forming and a basic fabrication background. 
  • A minimum of 1 year experience in a manufacturing environment is strongly desired. 
  • A basic knowledge and understanding of fabrication, hydraulic press, and/or punch operations, including basic set-up, is desired. 
  • Competent at basic dimensional measuring and able to quickly learn precision measurement tools. 
  • Demonstrated competency in basic shop math. 
  • Basic ability to read and understand blueprints and other shop drawing aids. 
  • Ability to work with various types of metal forming constraints with guidance. 
  • Previous experience with overhead crane use is desired. 
  • Ideally, you should have the ability to operate a forklift. 
  • Flexible and responsive with a strong teamwork orientation. 
  • Good verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Desire to learn new skills and improve technical knowledge.

Salary Range: £38,092 - £42,389 per annum

The Role:

Our client is looking to employ a Building Risk and Compliance Adviser in a permanent position to join our Property Services team of multi-disciplinary construction professionals and specialist support staff delivering a range of property functions ranging from new build, refurbishments, and extensions through to maintenance and compliance activities.

As part of your role, you will assist with delivering a strategy to manage risks relating to buildings under the responsibility of property services (with a particular focus on building maintenance), providing the necessary assurance and evidence through a structured approach of checking, monitoring, auditing, and reporting.

You will ensure the work carried out by framework contractors meets the required quality and defined specifications, fulfilling the safety, statutory, and compliance obligations. In addition, you will support and build a culture of strong risk management and compliance through a collaborative approach. Ideally, you will have a background in commercial building maintenance with statutory and non-statutory compliance integral to that. You will have experience ensuring contractors deliver to keep your buildings safe and functional.

The Water Mist Project Manager role will involve project managing fire sprinkler installations across the North West.

To be considered for this position, you MUST have the following background,

  • Gaseous suppression experience
  • Fire Sprinkler Installation experience

In this role, you will be responsible for the service, maintenance, and commissioning of split, multi-split, VRV/VRF systems, refrigeration units, and AHUs at clients' sites.

You will also be required to cover reactive callouts in your area from time to time, including diagnosis and same-day repair of customers' systems wherever possible.

Essential skills:

  • NVQ Level 2 & FGAS 2079
  • Experience working on OEM brands – Daikin, Mitsubishi, Panasonic
