Job Description: 

Ideally, someone who works on design-and-build projects and is used to running multiple jobs at once. Preferably, someone who has worked at a competitor and is used to the fast pace we work.

An Electrical Project Manager is required for an Electrical contractor based in London. We have offices in both London and Essex. We specialise in commercial office fitouts ranging from £5k—£2m, so the successful project manager must have experience running small contracts simultaneously alongside larger projects. Due to the office's location, the successful Project Manager would need to be located within a commutable distance of Liverpool St station.  

The Project Manager will work closely with the Senior Management team to support the tendering, estimating, and delivery of electrical building Services projects and contracts throughout London. Most clients are based within the M25. The project Manager is expected to work from the site, covering site visits, surveys, and meetings. We allow flexible working either from our office bases or home.

Electrical Project Manager Position Overview and Requirements:

  • As a Project Manager, you will have good all-around electrical knowledge within the engineering industry and a proven successful track record of managing electrical services contracts.
  • Experience running design and build projects within the commercial sector essential
  • Managing main contract & other smaller contracts
  • Managing sub-contractors
  • Dealing with procurement/purchasing of required materials via our in-house procurement manager
  • Managing budgets and P&L
  • Ensure that all health and safety procedures are adhered to and that all H&S documentation is in line with the client's requirements.
  • Capable of producing/updating CVIs, RFIs and final O and M manuals for projects themselves.

The applicant will be responsible for taking forward the project delivery following handover from the pre-construction team. 

Candidate to have:

  • Good overall electrical knowledge
  • Experience in running multiple small and large projects at the same time.
  • Commercial experience e.g. cost control and reporting throughout each project
  • Liaising with client's contracts managers in regard to accounts
  • Estimating and Design experience are advantageous but not essential
  • Must be professional and confident with excellent communication skills
  • Must be computer literate and have experience in using both Word and Excel as a minimum

Electrical Project Manager Position:

  • Salary - Open to all (ideally as a freelance PM but open to permanent too)

Role:

  • To effectively manage projects from receipt of client instruction through handover of the project to allow client occupation.
  • Ensure our quote / proposed scope of works meets the contract documents, client enquiry, design criteria, etc.
  • Prepare and regularly update a programme of works, highlighting long lead in items and allowing for design time, client comment and the like
  • Evolve the post contract health and safety file, ensure all necessary RAMS are in place and utilised. You will be responsible for all health and safety aspects for any project you are overseeing
  • Ensure your follow the needs of our insurers including hot works protocols and the like
  • Ordering of materials, assignment of labour, reporting on draft final accounts / likely profit
  • Raise valuations, applications for payment, invoices and the like. Assist with debt control.
  • Requesting CAI / variations as applicable, including preparation of scope of works and costs
  • Agreement of final accounts with our supply chain and client
  • You will be commercially responsible for your own clients/projects and must take ownership of the projects and coordination to ensure that you have all the resources in place to maximise our chances of a successful project.
  • Assist in the development of company systems and procedures to improve safety, efficiencies and profit.

Other:

  • Review enquiries / tenders, these may conceptually be fully designed by the client team, or clean sheet schemes, assist evolve a solution that meets the client requirements. i.e. evaluate supply chain quotes to ensure our planned solution is robust, best value and deliverable.
  • Assist in the development of company systems and procedures.
  • Full knowledge of HVAC Industry is essential, knowledge of parallel mechanical systems (and electrical systems) is desirable.
  • Attend site to survey existing and proposed installations, meet client team, etc
  • Co-ordinate designs with partner professionals (Hevacomp, etc.) and supply partners (air-con equipment selections, etc.)
  • Highlighting preferred partners, long lead items, risks and opportunities.
  • Attending various meetings to assist delivery and build client confidence
  • Ability to address Client queries, obtain Landlord approval, Building Regs submission and the like - specifications, drawings, programme of works, etc.
  • You will also assist in procuring the making good of defects certificate and invoicing of retentions
  • From time to time assist in returning PQQs and tender bids – this may include producing programmes, undertaking site surveys, commenting on the robustness of our bid / proposed scope of works.

Job Description: 

Our client is seeking a self-motivated Design Engineer to play a key role in designing and developing mechanical sprinkler and water mist suppression systems. This position is ideal for an individual with strong technical expertise and problem-solving skills, who can work independently and collaboratively within a team. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing high-quality designs that comply with industry regulations, ensuring efficient system functionality and seamless project execution.

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing and diverse team within the expanding fire protection industry. Current and upcoming projects span public and private sectors, including custodial, healthcare, hotels, retail, and residential developments, with values ranging from £10k to £5M.

Projects are located nationwide, and some travel may be required to attend site meetings, client consultations, and supplier visits. All travel and accommodation expenses will be covered. The successful candidate will also have access to training, further qualifications, and a bonus scheme.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce detailed design layouts and calculations for sprinkler and water mist suppression systems in line with BS 8489, BS 9251, NFPA, FM Global, and LPC 12845 standards.
  • Develop hydraulic calculations, pipework schematics, and equipment schedules to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Prepare technical drawings and specifications using CAD and industry-specific design software.
  • Conduct site surveys to assess project requirements and provide technical solutions.
  • Collaborate with clients, consultants, suppliers, and project teams to ensure designs meet project specifications and regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety standards, fire regulations, and client requirements.
  • Provide technical support to the installation team during the construction phase.

Essential Requirements:
