Job Description:
The Senior Design Manager will be vital in overseeing the design development and coordination of our luxury residential projects from conception to completion. This position requires a highly skilled individual with a robust architecture or engineering background and proven experience managing complex residential designs.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design team in developing innovative and aesthetically pleasing concepts for high-end residential developments, ensuring alignment with the project vision, client requirements, and budgetary constraints.
- Collaborate closely with external and internal stakeholders, including project managers, architects, engineers, and interior designers, to integrate design solutions seamlessly into the overall project delivery process.
- Oversee the preparation and review of architectural drawings, specifications, and other design documentation to ensure accuracy, compliance with building codes, and adherence to project timelines.
- Manage the coordination of consultants and external design partners, including structural and MEP engineers, to facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration and resolve design conflicts.
- Conduct regular design reviews and presentations to stakeholders, providing clear and concise communication of design intent, progress updates, and recommendations for the resolution of design-related issues.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in residential design, and integrate innovative design solutions and sustainable principles into project designs where appropriate.
- Foster a culture of creativity, excellence, and continuous improvement within the design team, mentoring juniors.
- Collaborate closely with the commercial team to prepare project packages, assess variations, and address changes effectively.
- Oversee, monitor, and ensure adherence to design program deadlines, proactively managing any challenges to maintain project timelines.
- Take ownership of Information Release Schedules (IRS), ensuring timely and accurate dissemination of design information to relevant stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in architectural design and project management, focusing on high-end residential projects.
- Have a proven track record of successfully delivering complex residential designs from concept to completion, demonstrating strong design sensibility, technical proficiency, and attention to detail.
- Extensive knowledge of building regulations, zoning codes, and construction standards applicable to residential developments.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and other design software tools.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and communicate design concepts to clients and stakeholders.
- Professional accreditation (e.g., RIBA, AIA, CEng) is desirable but not essential.
