Job Description:

The role of the Mechanical Contracts Manager will be pivotal to our client’s ongoing growth and success. The position is for a long-term contract within Education and the job role will include:

  • Liaising, negotiating and relationship-building with clients and consultants on an ongoing basis
  • Delivery of long-term public sector Measured Term Contracts (MTC), including healthcare, education, fire service, councils and government buildings
  • Responsibility for delivering multiple small works projects running simultaneously whilst ensuring quality and client satisfaction within the agreed timeframe
  • Procurement, ordering and delivery of material on time
  • Procurement and management of subcontractors 
  • Supervising and managing labour allocation and resources 
  • Working in partnership with the Contract Quantity Surveyor to control all aspects of financial management of the contract, including control of WIP, submission of accurate accounts and control of costs
  • Working alongside the other Contract Managers and Supervisors in planning, scheduling and carrying out works

Essential Criteria:

  • The applicant should be a fully qualified Plumber/Heating Engineer.
  • The applicant should have experience as a Contracts Supervisor or Manager 
  • Experience in managing a team 
  • Working knowledge of current Health and Safety legislation
  • Experience in commercial and industrial sectors
  • IT literate, e.g. proficient in MS Word, Outlook, Excel or similar
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to demonstrate good team ethos
  • Full driving licence

Desirable Criteria:

Whilst not essential, it would be advantageous for the candidate to have:

  • Previous experience in a Contracts Manager role
  • Experience in working with Measured Term Contracts (MTC rates)
  • Use of specialised software packages such as Amtech or AutoCAD software
