Job title: Estimator
Reporting to: Estimating Team Leader 
Job Purpose:
 To deliver commercial and technical quotations through the use of product selection and application against the companies products and services
Basic Overview 
The role involves reading of specifications and drawings, understanding clients’ needs/ considerations and restrictions to offer a HVAC solution. The Estimator will create quotations and ensure the technical and commercial accuracy of all bids are put out to the market. The role will extend to supporting the Sales and Post Sales Team alongside speaking to clients where necessary to build trusting long term relationships and confidence in our proposed HVAC solution. The Estimator will be expected to manage their own workloads to deliver excellent customer service and exceed industry standard quotation return dates. All communications and quotations are to be registered and maintained within our electronic filing systems and CRM system.
Duties and Responsibilities 
• Read, interpret, and understand customer enquiries including scope of works documents, schedules, drawings and project specification. • Identify and make recommendations of resources required to provide timely execution of quotations across the department. • To inform the Sales team and customers of any concerns surrounding the technical scope of works. • Use component and product selection software to prepare and produce estimates for bespoke equipment that meets HVAC regulations. • To prepare clearly qualified and detailed quotations and associated technical information for our customers. • To consider and apply commercial and technical solutions to reduce internal cost and increase gross profit. • Record appropriate exclusions/ inclusions to ensure that there are no misinterpretations and mitigate risk to the business. • Report any anomalies with software systems alongside identify enhancements to support the efficiency of our quotation process • Provide technical support and specification information to clients and internal colleagues • To play a key role in ensuring the department supports one another to deliver accurate and timely quotations. • To play a key role in communicating and documenting scope of works to the Project Manager once work is secured and attend internal meetings as required. • Liaising with internal departments ensuring they have the relevant information for the project and provide additional information in relation to secured orders as necessary. • Keep accurate records of communication and submissions via electronic filing systems, maintain and update internal CRM systems. • Support and assist newly appointed or less experienced colleagues by providing training and guidance as appropriate. • Provide a professional, courteous and efficient service to all. • Work with team colleagues to ensure the workplace environment is maintained to a high standard of cleanliness and tidiness, and always complies with company and legislative standards • Take reasonable care of both your own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by your acts or omissions, ensuring all company safety and quality systems are followed and all relevant legislation complied with, raising concerns and reporting any incidents or suggestions to your line manager • Support and assist newly appointed or less experienced colleagues by providing training and guidance as appropriate • Create a good impression of the company at all times and adhere to company rules and standards • Any other ad hoc duties that may be required from time to time for the smooth running of the business.
Qualifications/Experience required 
• Must have a minimum of 3 years as an applications engineer/ estimator within HVAC industry. • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. • Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills plus high standards for the quality of written work • Good levels of attention to detail and demonstrates quality of work • Self-discipline and the ability to work unsupervised • Good team working skills • Ability to multi-task and manage workload • The ability to work to deadline • Flexible, adaptable and calm when working under pressure • Strong client relationship skills • Good understanding of commercial awareness within the HVAC market • Working to ISO9001 quality procedures and CDM regulations • A commitment to further training as seen fit for the position.
