Job Description: 

Our client is a well-established mechanical and electrical building services contractor with over 45 years of industry experience. They specialise in the design, installation, and maintenance of M&E solutions across the commercial, industrial, and residential sectors. Known for delivering high-quality, innovative, and sustainable building services, they have built a trusted reputation among developers and contractors nationwide.

Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join their expanding team, with a primary focus on residential projects including high-end apartments and large-scale housing developments.

The Role:

The Electrical Design Engineer will be responsible for producing detailed electrical designs and specifications for residential developments. The successful candidate will work within a collaborative design team, ensuring projects are completed to the highest standards, on time, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and produce comprehensive electrical designs, drawings, and schematics for residential projects.
• Complete electrical calculations using industry-standard software such as Amtech, Dialux/Relux, and AutoCAD/Revit.
• Specify electrical systems including lighting, power distribution, fire alarms, security systems, data/telecoms, and EV charging solutions.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers, architects, contractors, and clients to coordinate designs and ensure seamless project delivery.
• Ensure all designs are fully compliant with current British Standards, Building Regulations, and client requirements.
• Attend design meetings, site visits, and inspections as needed.
• Provide technical advice and support to on-site teams during installation and commissioning stages.
• Keep abreast of industry developments and emerging sustainable technologies relevant to residential building services.

Candidate Requirements:

• Degree or HND/HNC in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
• Proven track record in electrical design within the residential construction sector.
• Strong understanding of electrical regulations, including BS7671 and applicable Building Regulations.
• Proficiency in design software such as Amtech, Dialux/Relux, and AutoCAD (Revit experience advantageous).
• Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
• Full UK driving licence (preferred).
