About the Role:
Our client seeks an experienced and proactive M&E Project Manager to take ownership of multiple mechanical and electrical engineering projects from pre-construction to final handover. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards, in alignment with the company’s values and client expectations.
Working closely with in-house and external design teams, commercial managers, site personnel, and clients, the M&E Project Manager will lead project teams to successful outcomes while championing the business’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the full project lifecycle for assigned mechanical and electrical projects from pre-construction to completion and handover.
- Develop and maintain project programmes, ensuring milestones are achieved and resources are effectively managed.
- Coordinate internal teams and subcontractors, ensuring clear communication and collaboration across disciplines.
- Work closely with commercial teams to monitor financial performance, control costs, and manage change.
- Ensure compliance with all contractual, legal, and statutory requirements, as well as company health, safety, and quality standards.
- Oversee the management of procurement schedules, plant, labour, and materials to ensure timely delivery in line with project programmes.
- Represent the company in meetings with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
- Manage project risk, identify potential issues early, and implement practical solutions.
- Ensure projects are delivered in line with company sustainability objectives, BIM processes, and digital engineering standards where applicable.
- Provide leadership and mentoring to site teams, promoting a culture of professionalism, accountability, and teamwork.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong technical knowledge of M&E building services, including mechanical, electrical, and public health systems.
- Excellent leadership, organisational, and time management skills.
- Effective interpersonal, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities.
- Commercially aware with good financial acumen.
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Familiarity with modern methods of construction, BIM processes, and digital construction workflows (advantageous).
Qualifications & Experience:
- Relevant qualifications in Building Services Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
- Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale M&E projects within the construction sector.
- SMSTS certification is essential.
- CSCS Black/Platinum card preferred.
- IOSH or NEBOSH qualifications (desirable).
- Experience of working within a digitally enabled project environment would be an advantage.
