Quantity Surveyor/Cost Consultant – Hotel and Leisure Sector.

Overview:

We are looking for a graduate construction Quantity Surveyor to join our team and work on a variety of Hotel / Leisure refurbishment projects across the country. We are seeking an individual with around two years of post-graduate experience in providing Quantity Surveying services, preferably with exposure to commercial projects in the hotel sector.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide Quantity Surveying services for Hotel / Leisure refurbishment projects.
  • Liaise directly with clients, contractors, and other project team members.
  • Negotiate costs with contractors and suppliers.
  • Work independently and as part of a larger team to ensure project success.
  • Utilize analytical skills to assess project costs and budgets accurately.
  • Proficiently use Microsoft Excel and other relevant software.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying or related field, preferably RICS accredited.
  • Membership of or working towards professional accreditation with RICS, APM, or CIOB.
  • Around two years of post-graduate experience in Quantity Surveying.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyse, compare, and summarize data accurately.
  • Confident and articulate communicator capable of liaising with clients and supporting team members.
  • Basic understanding of measurement and contracts.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Driving licence

As an experienced Commercial Manager / Quantity Surveyor, you will report to the Commercial Director and be a key part of the commercial team.

You will be responsible for all aspects of finances relating to the project, providing commercial expertise and responsible for the financial delivery of a number of projects, including assisting and managing to ensure that projects are procured and delivered within budget and to the highest quality while exceeding our client expectations.

Prior experience working with a blue-chip contractor is preferable, as well as being an active team member in respect of cost and commercial matters on fast-track schemes up to £4-5 million value with a high degree of change throughout the pre-construction and contract period.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The role will involve financial reports, cost value reporting, and approval of payments internally and externally.
  • Prepare extension of time claims where applicable, contra charges, payment notifications, notification of delays, tender cost analysis, day works, forecasting, valuations, final accounts negotiating and measuring.
  • To take responsibility for regularly reviewing all projects' financial performance, improving financial certainty and maximising commercial success.
  • To ensure best practice and continuous improvement in financial processes on-site

Job Description:

Our client seeks a Senior Construction Manager to assist in a long-term project through 2027 (value £16m) in the Commercial Offices sector.

A rough explanation of what’s involved in the project:

  • Help complete the construction of a London-based project with a mechanical bias.
  • Follow-on project to large-scale London project in Berkley Square, Mayfair.
  • Project duration through to 2027.

Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing all major mechanical and electrical (M&E) construction activities.
  • Ensuring the timely completion of construction milestones.
  • Coordinating with subcontractors and vendors to ensure quality and adherence to project specifications.
  • Managing project budgets and expenditures.
  • Collaborating with other project managers to ensure seamless integration of M&E systems with overall construction.
  • Monitoring and enforcing health, safety, and environmental regulations on the construction site.
  • Providing regular progress reports to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Resolving any issues or conflicts that arise during the construction process.
  • Leading and motivating construction teams to achieve project goals.
